Roughly 6 months ago (and yes I have been busy since then and desperately need to catch up my blog here) I received an email from the grooms mother who was in search of a wedding photographer for her sons intimate wedding that would be hosted by his parents and would take place on the front steps of their beautiful home, followed by a reception in their back yard. I had the pleasure of meeting Jakes mother Anne at their home and we had a great conversation for two hours with a side bar of playing fetch with the family dog. By the end of our meeting Anne slapped her hand on the table and said “let’s do this”. I hadn’t even met the bride or the groom yet and I am shooting their wedding….this feels a bit awkward and odd….
Usually before stepping into a wedding I have everything I need to know….timelines well rehearsed, shot list in tow, and feel more than prepared. Well, the grooms mother warned me with ” I hope you are ok with type B or maybe even type C personalities, because that is the way we roll. Weeks later I had the opportunity to meet both Lindsey and Jake before their wedding day. They didn’t have many demands…a few important shots here and there along with a few important details. Within the first few minutes of arriving on scene it was clear they didn’t want a day long photoshoot and the details really didn’t matter too much. What really was really important and mattered was that they enjoy their wedding day without much fuss and celebrate their love for eachother and my job was to capture it along the way as their wedding day fell into place. The heck with planning…we’re here to get married and have a party. That is exactly how they…and I….rolled! Happy 6 months and 10 days Lindsey and Jake!
